What is parnassus mantegna?

Parnassus Mantegna is a famous painting created by Italian Renaissance painter Andrea Mantegna. It was completed in 1497 for the Ducal Palace in Mantua, Italy. The painting depicts the classical theme of Mount Parnassus, the mythical home of the Muses, with Apollo playing his lyre accompanied by other gods, poets and muses. Mantegna used the technique of foreshortening to give an illusion of depth, making the figures appear to be coming out of the painting towards the viewer. The painting measures 159 cm x 192 cm and is now located in the Louvre Museum in Paris, France.
